WHAT DOES THE ASSOCIATION DO?
The association is a marketing and lobbying
organization for Vermont wholesale Christmas tree growers. The association conducts a
very successful marketing effort for its members at a reasonable cost.
CAN I BELONG TO OTHER CHRISTMAS TREE ORGANIZATIONS AND BELONG TO
THE VERMONT WHOLESALE CHRISTMAS TREE GROWERS ASSOCIATION TOO?
Yes! Many of our members belong to other Christmas tree associations both at the state
and national level.
WHAT DOES IT COST TO BELONG TO THE ASSOCIATION?
The dues are $50.00 per
year plus any marketing or other assessments voted at a properly warned membership
meeting. At this time no special assessment has been voted for the 2007 marketing year.
HOW OFTEN DOES THE ASSOCIATION MEET?
Generally twice a year but the
association president can call special meetings with proper notice.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP?
- You must actively grow Christmas trees in Vermont or own land in Vermont on
which you intend to grow Christmas trees and brush for the wholesale market.
- You must not import Christmas trees or brush from another state or country.
- You must agree to actively participate in association marketing initiatives and other
activities as agreed to at member meetings.
DOES ITEM TWO ABOVE PROHIBIT ME FROM BUYING TRANSPLANTS OR
SEEDLINGS FROM OUT OF STATE OR OUT OF THE COUNTRY TO PLANT ON MY LAND?
No! This only applies to mature trees and brush for resale.
DO I HAVE TO HAVE OR AGREE TO HAVE A PARTICULAR POLITICAL VIEWPOINT
OR PARTY TO BELONG TO THE ASSOCIATION?
No! The members of the association
lobby in the name of the association, with the consent of the majority of the members, for
positions favorable to wholesale Christmas tree growers in Vermont without regard to
political parties or political issues not concerning the Christmas tree industry in Vermont.
CAN I GET A COPY OF THE ASSOCIATION BY LAWS?
